Our Story

TRUST IS EARNED. HERE’S HOW WE’VE EARNED IT.

Real customers. Real job sites. Real restoration work.

No staged scenes. No actors. No scripts. Just the people who trusted us with their property, telling you what it was like to work with our team.

Every customer has a story, and every loss brings its own challenges. Each one is another chance to live up to the values this company was founded on. Watch the work, hear from the people we’ve helped, and make an informed decision about who you trust with your property.

Our Story Her influence propelled Power Restoration of Rockford.

IT STARTED WITH A QUESTION MY GRANDMOTHER USED TO ASK.

My name is Ramon Darby, owner of Power Restoration of Rockford. My grandmother’s influence over me is what propelled Power Restoration of Rockford. Thelma Palin taught me the value of hard work, integrity, and helping others. Despite struggling with painful foot conditions, she worked in a grocery store meat department for 35 years and never let hardship stop her.

She lived by one simple question: “What good are you if you don’t help people?” She passed away in 1999, and those words still guide me. They shaped my values, my sense of responsibility, and the foundation of this company. Success isn’t about what you accomplish. It’s the difference you make in someone else’s life.

Built on Concrete Driven by people.

Before Power Restoration of Rockford, I built high-rises.

I came up through the cement and concrete union — Local 6A in New York City, then Local 4 in Chicago, Illinois — pouring decks, columns and foundations on crews where every pour was a team effort and every day was hard, physical work. I loved it. The discipline, the pace, the way a crew moves as one when the concrete is coming and the clock is running. To this day, it still gets me fired up.

The same mindset, a different job site

That mindset is what established Power Restoration of Rockford.

Water mitigation. Fire and smoke cleanup. Mold remediation. Asbestos abatement. Each one is a process, and it only works when it’s done in the right order, by a crew that takes the work personally. On a high-rise, there’s no shortcut to a slab that holds. In your home, there’s no shortcut to a house that’s dry, clean and safe.

The part that’s better

On a construction site, the person who benefits from your work is an owner you’ll never meet.

In restoration, they’re standing right there. It’s a family who just watched water pour through their ceiling or smoke fill their kitchen, and our crew gets to walk them through the claim, mitigate the loss to perfection, and rebuild with the kind of craftsmanship we’d want in our own homes. Watching a homeowner get their house back is an amazing process — and they benefit from every bit of it.

That’s the work. That’s why we do it.

PEOPLE FIRST

WE DON’T JUST SEE DAMAGE. WE SEE THE PEOPLE LIVING WITH IT.

The first day we came to Mrs. Mary’s home in Freeport for a water damage inspection, we never got to knock. From inside we heard her calling, “Come help me, please.” She had fallen and had been on the floor for a long time. The door was unlocked. We went in, got her up, and made sure she was okay before anyone looked at a single wet wall.

From then on she looked forward to the crew showing up every morning. That’s her in the photo, with the drying equipment still running behind us. That is what people first means here. When we walk into a home affected by water, fire, mold or asbestos, we are walking into someone’s life during a hard stretch of it. Beyond the damage there is worry about safety, cost and what comes next. We listen, we explain things clearly, we respect your property, and we treat everyone with dignity, because behind every restoration job is a person counting on us to get it right.

THE WORK YOU DON’T SEE

THE CREW GOES HOME. THE CLAIM DOESN’T.

This is my office after hours. It’s where a water, fire, mold or asbestos loss in Rockford becomes an insurance claim an adjuster has to take seriously. Every photo and video from the job site, every moisture reading, every piece of documentation, gathered, organized and sent to our estimators so the Xactimate estimate reflects exactly what happened in your home. If it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen, and the homeowner is the one who pays for that.

I do this part myself because I was in the house. I know what the crew found, what we removed and why. Keeping each client’s claim current, with nothing missing and nothing left for the insurance company to question, is the work that makes the difference between a claim that gets paid and one that gets argued. The crew makes your home safe. This desk makes sure you don’t face the insurance company alone.

WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, YOU DON’T HAVE TO FACE IT ALONE.

Water damage, fire, mold or asbestos — we’re here with professional service, honest communication and real respect for your property.

WHEN WATER, FIRE, MOLD OR ASBESTOS TAKE OVER, POWER RESTORATION TAKES CONTROL.
